10 Random Things About Me

I’ve been in survival mode lately, so some of these are only temporary…I hope.

  1. I’ve been out of body wash for 3 days now and have been using the hubby’s.  It’s very manly scented while showering, but I can’t smell it afterwards…at least I don’t think so.
  2. I am not wearing polish on my toes.  I think this is the first time in like 5 years.  I feel kind of naked without it.
  3. I think it would be neat to be a meteorologist and wonder why I never really thought of that career growing up.
  4. I’ve always hated chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy as a meal.  I’ve always called it “schlop”.  Ever since being preggo with #3, I actually enjoy it now.  Strange.
  5. I can crochet.  I’m definitely a beginner, but want to get more into it eventually. I’m also intrigued by knitting, but am not sure how much harder that is to learn.  I’ve never knitted, so it would be a whole new thing.
  6. When walking around my house from room to room, sometimes I feel the need to go in reverse or in a circle or a different route.  It just feels “off” if I don’t.
  7. I still can’t fit into some of my pre-preggo summer shorts, but I’m too stubborn to buy new ones because I am very hopeful to return to my other size.  OR maybe it’s just that I’m too cheap ;)
  8. I feel like our backyard is a place for small creatures to die.  We’ve lived here for 9 months and have had a cat (illness related, I think), a rabbit (attacked by something) and 3 birds (flew into our window…they’re smart) die here already.  I don’t get it.
  9. I have my dad’s fingernails and hands and every time I look at them, it reminds me of him.  Does that make me have man hands?  Anyone remember that from Seinfeld?  If not, click here.
  10. As a child, I would breakout in hives if I watched Rescue 9-1-1 or Unsolved Mysteries.  We used to have to watch Rescue 9-1-1 in the 3rd grade and I would always have to leave the classroom so I wouldn’t have a breakout.  I got to go to the computer lab and play Oregon Trail.  I was never good at that game and always died of diphtheria or dysentery.

10 Random Things About Me

  1. I can’t stand loud noises.  My blood pressure actually rises when I hear them.  I like libraries…so quiet.
  2. I like to go straight to the bottom of the bag when eating potato chips.  The crumbs are my favorite part.  And don’t forget about the burnt ones…simply the best!
  3. My first born starts kindergarten this fall.  I think about it every day.  I know she will love it, but I’m going to be a complete mess.
  4. When I am thinking about things, I actually type out the words in my head.  Is this normal?
  5. I hate applying eye liner.  I’ve known people to get it tattooed onto their eye lids, but don’t know that I’d ever have the courage.
  6. I developed melasma (patchy, brown discoloration of skin) on my forehead after my 2nd baby was born and it faded rather quickly.  It came back after I had baby #3 (4 months ago) and it was darker and worse than before.  I’m trying L’Oreal’s Spot Serum Corrector and I think it’s working.  I should have taken a before pic.  Anyone else have a problem with this?  If so, can you recommend anything?
  7. I reached my pre-pregnancy weight a couple of weeks ago (yey!), but I’m not really into numbers.  I kinda go with how I feel and let me tell you…things have shifted.  I know it’s only been 4 1/2 months, so I must give it more time.  I also know that since I’m breastfeeding, it will take longer for me to return to semi-normal.  At least that’s how it was with my first two pregnancies.
  8. I’ve found that as I get older, my fear of crowds is increasing.  I actually have a little “anxiety attack” if you will, just thinking about going to a place with large crowds.  I think it has something to do with worrying about the kiddos and hoping no one gets lost.  Just a guess.
  9. When I make a fruit pie, i love the crust more than the fruit filling and the hubby is the opposite.  We get along really well when eating dessert ;-)
  10. I used to have energy at night to do the projects I am passionate about, but lately I have zero ambition.  After all the kiddos are in bed, I want to do nothing but stuff my face with Oreos eat a couple of snacks while watching the Olympics and head to bed by 10:30 pm.  I don’t mind getting old, but dang, I’d really like some ambition back.

Baby Carrier

I apologize for the quality of the photo, but shouldn’t everyone post a ‘selfie’ in a bathroom with flush-able wipes in the picture?  Now that I got that out of the way, enjoy a little randomness about me.

  1. I never used to like plain m&m’s, but they’ve grown on me.  I eat all of the yellow ones first (watch out green, you’re next).  For some reason, they taste better. They are like little balls of sunshine waiting to be eaten.  I might just be eating some as I type this.
  2. I am very messy at brushing my teeth.  Picture a dog with rabies foaming at the mouth…that pretty much sums it up.  I have no control over it.  No.  Really.  I don’t.
  3. The hubby signed up for a free subscription to ‘Horseman’ magazine.  No we don’t have horses, but it does put a smile on my face every time we get it in the mail. Not because I like horses, but I think it’s funny.  I’m actually kind of afraid of horses.  I always think they’re going to take a bite out of my neck.  I think I saw something in regards to that happening on tv when I was a child and it has obviously scarred me for life.
  4. I prefer hand-written notes/lists/messages than electronic ones.  They’re much more personal.  I also prefer phone calls over text messages.  No, I’m not 80 years old, just traditional.
  5. I think a sense of humor is the best quality a person could have.  My hubby and I can laugh for hours…love that.
  6. I love to craft.  Most of the things I make aren’t my idea.  I guess that means I’m not that creative.
  7. I do squats while blow drying my hair.  I also use my kids as leg weights while doing leg lifts.  Fun for them, workout for me.  The whole two birds, one stone thing.
  8. Most of the furniture in my house is used.  I like to buy cheap and restore it to my liking.  So.Much.Fun.
  9. I am a total introvert, but I love public speaking.  Several of my college professors said it was one of my strong suits.  I definitely prefer speaking in a crowd of complete strangers than people I know.
  10. Before having kids, I was a stomach sleeper.  It was the only way to sleep for me. Now…totally on my back.  I know some of you are probably thinking, “OMG, no way…stomach all the way!”  Did you know that sleeping on your back helps prevent wrinkles?  They say it’s because nothing pushes on your face.  Hmmm, reconsidering how you sleep tonight?

Make it a GREAT weekend!  It’s a 3-day one for us ;)
