We’re Making Progress in the Large Living Room

Hope you all had a wonderful Labor Day!  I wish I could say we relaxed and didn’t labor. The hubby worked much of the day and so did I (ya know, scrubbing toilets and scraping water balloons off the brick in the backyard…fun times).  Luckily, we had our fun on Saturday and Sunday by enjoying our time playing with the kiddos and going to the splash-pad ;)

Anyway, I realized it was eons ago that I said I was remodeling the “large living room”. Although I’m not done with it, I figured an update might be appropriate.  That, and I just washed the slipcovers on the sofa.  I know a big, dramatic reveal would have been fun, but let’s face it, who knows when that would happen.  So, here we go.

Here’s what it looked like before.

And the after.  You’ll noticed that I had to install some corner protectors on the coffee table I made (here).  Gotsta protect those little humans of mine ;)  Also, that wall needs something.  I get it.  I’m thinking some canvas prints of the kiddos?  An electric fireplace? You know, for all those freezing cold nights in the desert…duh.

I like the nice little seating area created for reading a book, enjoying a nice cup of coffee or watching the kids play in the backyard.

The brown blinds are gone and brighter white curtains have taken their place.  So much brighter.  Take note that the brown trim is still there.  Yup, not happy about it, but all in due time my friends.

A nice little basket to hide blankets, toys or whatever else the youngsters put in it.

This wall above the sofa is a blank canvas just waiting to be decorated.  However, I’m just not sure of what to do yet.  I have some ideas, but I’m still not 100% sure of what I want. Maybe I’ll surprise the hubby and hang some antlers.  Could he love me anymore?!

Aaaand, the other side of the room still looks like this.  Toys R Us threw up over here.  It’s ok.  No really, I’m fine with it.  Did you even notice the little bambino there or did he blend in with the chaos?

See that tv stand/armoire on the left?  Well, that will be painted.  Probably white, but we’ll see.  I’m kind of indecisive lately and it’s driving me a little bonkers.  I think I have writer’s block, but with decorating.  I just really don’t have a clue what I want.  Also, I REALLY want to put that gray dresser in the little lady’s room, but she’s holding on dearly to her baby one (changing table).  One of them has to go, but she doesn’t want to give up either of them.  I’ll let you know who wins that battle.  Until then, I’ll keep on painting things I’m 100% sure of.  I’ve painted the master bedroom, office and a what seems like a million pieces of furniture.  Slowly, but surely, I’ll get there :)  Maybe, just maybe, if I get my rear in gear, I’ll have some pics of the master bedroom next week.
