Happy Friday Y’all! I hope everyone has been enjoying their last days of summer. I sure am looking forward to Fall, as it’s my favorite season of all time. I’m definitely looking forward to cooler temps! I finally got around to doing this post and after sitting down to look at the pics, I actually feel like I’ve been making progress around here. Woot!
Anywho, last week I stated that I’d share updates to the master bedroom this week. I’d like to state that I definitely LOVE when people post some dramatic before and after pics where the room is all finished. However, if I did that, it would probably be years before I’d post anything. I just can’t seem to work on one room at a time. Maybe it’ll be better when I’m not interrupted every two seconds by the munchkins :) Anyway, on to some pics :)
This is the Master Bedroom “before” (circa January 2014…WOW, it was THAT long ago?!). You can see that post (here).
Look at how little my baby was. I remember being able to put him on the bed and he wouldn’t go anywhere. Awe, memories.
Nope, these still aren’t reupholstered. Are you shocked? You shouldn’t be ;)
And here we have the “after”. Those pics above the bed will never be straight. I have 2 monkeys children who like to jump on the bed and touch those while I’m not looking. Maybe I should have taken the time to straighten them before taking pics?
I kind of want to paint the bookshelf a “fun” color. Thoughts? I’m open to suggestions :)
The giant mirror will be going back on top of the dresser, but I was in the middle of painting it when these pics were taken. It has since been finished and is back in place. Mirrors definitely add so much to a room!
So, there ya have it. See? Getting there! My next steps for this room is to paint all of the furniture. The hubby thinks I’m nuts and I think he’s a little hesitant with me doing it. This is our first “real” furniture that we bought when we got married and it wasn’t cheap. What can I say? We both had jobs and no kids, so we bought it new. It’s what we thought we were supposed to do. If I were to do it over again, I would buy from a thrift store. It’s the only way to go (for us anyway). Especially since I like to re-purpose old stuff. The set includes an over-sized bedroom set (dresser, night stand and bed) that is just too dark for my taste anymore. Don’t get me wrong. There is nothing wrong with the furniture and I still like it, but I want it lighter and brighter. AND painting is so much cheaper than buying something else.
Also, I’ve increased the size of the photos. Yay or nay?
Paint the bookshelf the color of the teal(candle holder?) thing sitting on the dresser in the last photo. That would look awesome!
Hmmm, I might have to think about that :) I do have a small container of paint similar to that color. Oh, and it’s a cake plate. LOL I suppose it could be used as a candle holder though :)
