I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas! We normally put the tree up the day after Thanksgiving, decorate the house, do our Christmas shopping and all the other hoopla that you do at Christmastime. This year…not so much. I did get most of my shopping done online during Black Friday. The only thing we went to the store for this year were gift cards. Let me tell you, it was pretty awesome. I used to love the hustle and bustle of going in and out of stores and fighting the crowds. I must be getting old in my age because I am so over it. Online is where it’s at. The hubby loves me more because of it. I feel it.
Anywho, the tree made it up, but the decorations did not. It’s a pre-lit tree, so at least there were lights on it. About 5 of our 50 strands of lights got hung on the outside of the house. Baking was almost non-existent…until I realized that might be a sin. So, the kids and I did manage to whip up a couple of batches of cookies. I did to get pics taken and Christmas cards sent out – woot. Christmas dinner consisted of a ham, macaroni and cheese and fresh veggies with ranch. We’re so classy.
It was a very simple plain Christmas this year. Oh and on top of it all, the hubby, the baby and I were all sick. On Christmas day. Score!
We’ve already got the tree down and the few decorations we had have been stored away for next year. We’re all on the mend and I can feel the new year in the air. 2014…it’s gonna be a good one :-) No buying/selling vehicles, no babies, no surgeries, no moving. Last year was just so jam-packed with stuff that I feel like it flew by and we didn’t have time to enjoy the little things in life. Here’s to a slower-paced year. Cheers!
On that note, I am hoping to work on the blog a bit more and post some more recipes and little projects here and there. Wishful thinking? Maybe. It’s a goal of mine and I know the kids are only little once, so sometimes I feel like doing nothing but enjoying them. We’ll see what happens :)
Oh and my little guy…he’s 3 months now and just so full of smiles. I could seriously eat him up…pure yummy he is. My 2 year old has been potty-trained for a month now. He did awesome! Only took him a week and he was trained…so proud of him. My 4 1/2 year old learned how to ride a bike in 1 day over Thanksgiving. She is so smart and talented. She’s eager to learn and we love teaching her. Well, that’s it…baby is awake. Until next time. Happy New Year!
P.S. – Pics are still nill…sigh. One of these days I’ll get them loaded ;)
I’m glad everyone is feeling better. Gosh, I can’t believe Liam is potty trained already. The kids are only little once. I had a chance to build a snowman with Keeley last week. Today, we did touch ups and played in the backyard in the snow. For a Grandma, it was awesome! Keels had a blast, indicative of the belly laughs when I was she was riding the horse (i.e. me) and falling into the snow when the horse bucked her off, ha! I can’t tell you when the last time was I built a snowman. It was awesome! I don’t know who enjoyed it more! The world should revolve around children, that’s for sure!
